The Common - Savannah GA

Updated: Feb 14, 2023

Common food and atmosphere or just a cover?

The Common was a cute restaurant on the main strip in downtown Savannah and while the outside looks as if it used to be an older retail store, it was surprising how cute it was inside! The food was surely something worth calling home about. Or at least writing about.

The Gluten Free Menu was fairly extensive considering how much delicious food there was.

Instead of trying to tell you how great the food was, allow me to share in a way I know best.

Champagne Butter Mussels: (GF)

Tender sautéed mussels bathed in a champagne butter sauce, garlic, onions, & red pepper flakes, with sliced Le Cafe Gourmet baguettes & basil.

Raw Oysters on the Half Shell (GF)

James River (VA) raw oysters on the half shell with Bhuna, cocktail sauce & sangria mignonette.

Salmon Gastro Plate (GF)

Seared salmon, lemon caper butter, & charred scallions, fried capers, over mashed potatoes with seasonal micro greens.

Brilliant Martini

Haku Japanese craft Vodka / orange bitters / extra dry vermouth

Blackberry Whiskey Smash

Canadian Whiskey / Lemon Juice / Honey / Smashed Blackberry & Mint / Lemon Bitters

All in all this place was a real catch! Worth the visit!!! The staff was extremely helpful when it came to dealing with allergies and the wait for food was small. The atmosphere was great for work, date, friends, or just to go!

I would have to say do your best to avoid the bathroom. Nothing stellar there.
